Sabin grew up behind the counter of her father's Dubai watch shop — learning the trade in straps, calibres and quiet conversations with collectors. Two decades later, she inherited Spectrum and set herself a single brief: take a beloved local Dubai house and build it into a global brand, without losing the workshop voice it was founded on. Today she leads Spectrum from the UAE — designing in Dubai, shipping worldwide, and writing the next chapter of a family business that started in 1990.

Jan Mohammad Lakhani
Spectrum was founded in 1990 by Jan Mohammad Lakhani — a Dubai shopkeeper with a watchmaker's patience and a trader's eye. From a single counter in the old city, he built Spectrum into one of the Middle East's earliest homegrown watch houses: precision movements, honest pricing, and a refusal to sell anything he wouldn't wear himself. Three decades on, the workshop ethic he set down is still the brand's quiet centre.
The second chapter · today
Sabin Lakhani
Spectrum is now led by his daughter, Sabin Lakhani — who inherited the brand and is carrying it from a beloved local Dubai business into a global house. Sabin is a multi-dimensional founder: a writer, designer and entrepreneur who builds at the intersection of craft, wellness and technology. Under her direction, Spectrum has become persona-led, story-driven, and shipped worldwide from the UAE — without losing the workshop voice her father set in 1990.
