Watch Size & Fit Guide: How to Measure Your Wrist
A watch that fits reads intentional. One that doesn't reads borrowed. Here's how our Dubai workshop sizes a wrist in under two minutes — and the numbers we use to match a case to it.
Measure your wrist in 60 seconds
- Wrap a soft tape (or a strip of paper) around the bone where a watch usually sits. Snug, not tight.
- Record the number in millimetres. Most adult wrists land between 150–200mm.
- Match to the table below — case diameter first, then lug-to-lug.
- If you're between sizes, size down. A slightly smaller watch always reads more elegant than a slightly larger one.

Why lug-to-lug matters more than diameter
Case diameter is the number on the spec sheet. Lug-to-lug — the distance from one strap attachment to the other — is the number that decides whether the watch actually fits. If the lugs overhang the flat top of your wrist, the strap kinks and the case tips. Two 40mm watches can wear a full size apart because of it.
Rule of thumb: keep lug-to-lug under your wrist's flat width. On a 180mm wrist, that's usually 48–50mm max.
Strap length & where the buckle should sit
The buckle should close on a middle hole — not the last one, not the first. That leaves room for wrists to swell in Dubai heat and for you to tighten in winter. If you're consistently on an outer hole, the strap is the wrong length; we can swap it in-workshop.
Common questions
What's the most flattering size for a man?
40mm is the modern default and flatters wrists from 170–190mm. Go 38mm for a dressier read, 42mm for sport.
Can women wear a 40mm watch?
Absolutely. Oversized wear is a deliberate choice and one of our most-requested fits. Check lug-to-lug first.
How tight should a watch feel?
You should be able to slip a fingertip under the strap. Any tighter marks the skin; any looser and the case slides around the wrist.
